Good afternoon all,
Just joined the forum and wanted to introduce myself.
I have moved from France to Namibia in 2023 and have started with road trips around the country. This is my first experience of African roads, so please consider me as a 4x4 beginner
Earlir this year I purchased a LC100 4.2 TD, 2005 model.
Happy with the car, in very good condition with a reasonable history.
I had it inspected by Safari Engineering in Windhoek and had a general service and few jobs done (steering rack bushes & tie rod ends, transfer case seals, front wheel bearings).
It now has a iKamper roof tent fitted which was tested last week, it is excellent.
I researched this model on the forum and found very useful information. I am quite confident with the reliability of the car, but have two major concerns:
- Brake Booster / ABS unit
- A/C compressor bearing
Both are original, as far as I can tell, and it is only a matter of time before they fail. Any thoughts on this? Preventive replacement is a lot of money...
Also, the rear shocks (Old Man EMU) are tired, which makes for a very comfortable ride, but the rear end feels too loose to my taste...and one of the front shocks has a leak. I will look into replacing those shorltly, do you have any recommendations?
Thanks
Martin
