New company car

I bought my 95 specifically to use as my daily runner. I do 100 miles per day commuting to work and its fine. I bought a V6 on LPG for the extra economy and average (cost comparative to a diesel) about 35mpg.

Right, after a slight delay l took delivery of the new Mondeo. First impressions are very good. I've never had a Ford before and until the most recent range of cars would never have considered one at all. The most recent models have come on iv major leaps and bounds and miles from the Halcyon days of Escorts, Sierras and such like.
First thing is that the car was supplied with a tasty set of 18" alloys, rear privacy glass, roof rails and stainless steel rear bumper protector that were not requested but really suit it. Colour choice spot on and has the stupid name of Hypnotic Silver: read nice light graphite grey. The only obvious omission is the lack of rear parking sensors. Not standard on a Titanium model!! I'll cope.
Fantastic car to drive and the handling and ride quality are, BMWs aside, the best I've ever experienced. Economy so far mid-40's mpg; not bad for a new tight engine. Phone system, stereo and the usual interior switches and stuff are fine. Particularly like the heated windscreen and can't understand why it is not standard on every car on the planet. The voice activation system seems to work well, especially with the phone as accessing the phone address book is a bit of a faff. Minor complaints include fairly crummy roof cloth and general boot interior lining quality, its hard to tell when the phone is connected by Bluetooth, the hand book is a bit crap as its hard to tell the options from the standard fit items (eg is the CD player a single unit or a multiple job?) and the text descriptions of how to operate more complex items like the DAB unit and voice activation, Bluetooth streaming etc are just rubbish. I'll miss the XC90 abilities to drive in the present crappy weather but equally glad I don't have a crappy Laguna or Peugeot 407.
Onwards and upwards!

Recent update. How utterly utterly crap is the Mondeo in snow. Good grief. I want a real 4x4. :what::what:

Nah! It's shit for a £25k car. The fabric on the seats is hopeless for static too. I get a belt every time I get out. Reminds me of a Megane wife had a few years back.

I just couldn't believe how rubbish it was in the snow today.

Does it have performance summer tyres by any chance? Even a 4WD will be useless in the snow if it does not have appropriate tyres. I have read somewhere that you can get winter tyres fitted to company cars, might be a bit late for this year as you will be swapping them over to the summer tyres in a few weeks time anyway.

The new Mazda6 pretty much beats the competition on almost all counts especially for co car drivers. Its a nice place to be & looks good too. Also worth noting it contains no Ford bits, its all Japanese again which is a good thing.

If i was gonna spend 25k on a car it would have to be over 40 years old at the very least so value went up with each passing year rather than down with each passing second .

Has Continental something low rolling resistance fuel saving rubbish in the snow tyres. They will have to do. At least I know their limitations from the confines of my drive. :banghead:

I didn't. Company lease car. I wouldn't spend £25k on a new Ford either, if I'm perfectly honest.
