Having a couple of weeks in the Swartzwald on the bikes
Hired a trailer and did a quick build in the hilux to make life acceptable
All good so far
Weather decent and roads good!
Have fun, Hope weather stays good.
Hilux looking great.
Hired a trailer, surprised you didn’t rustle one up in your garage
Are you staying in one base camp or moving about.
Let us know if you find any good ones because I plan To pass through that area in September
Was going to build a trailer but hire was only £150 so food to try before I build
We’re using 3 different camp sites moving on every 4 days
Fuel far cheaper in Germany than France!
Germany very different to Alsace
More picturesque cheaper and more scenic also much cleaner
Torrential rain last night Oz tent perfectly dry inside
Sun shining now
Good roads Tony but utterly crap speed limits. Up and down like a whore’s drawers
Just make any progress
I think there been a big clamp down on biker fun recently with some places closed to bikes at weekends
Basically Germany is shut at the moment. I think it’s the French and German national holiday weeks. Very very little is open at all including hotels shops restaurants etc. And with that they’ve decided to do major road repairs
The number of diversions is crackers. The sat nag is in meltdown
Going to try a different route tomorrow but guessing the speed limits will be shite again
Got forward flashed by a 30 kph camera today. Good luck making that one stick! The locals seem to obey the village 50 limits but outside of those they don’t seem to give damn
Went South today what a difference
Fantastic riding in 32 degs. Incredible hairpins and mountain scenery
Rain on the way back but a fridge full of cold cheap local beer soon cheered us up
Well after what was until then an uneventful trip, disaster struck
I was making dinner and I noticed that one of the small screws had come out of the net where I store the hose pipe. Thinking on my feet I took one out from somewhere else and replaced it. Disaster averted! Note to sell
Always Carry a small spare screw on these overland trips.
Hilux and both bikes were outstanding
Waiting for ferry now. I guess it could sink. Not going to be able to fix that one
No, YOU did if I recall. I had the sense to stick to the limits and have my visor down. Remember now? 30 kph round a bend on a hill in a village. Most of the cameras in France have been, errm, 'seen to', by the locals. Amazing what you can do with spray paint.
