Quick question.

I have replaced my water pump, thermostat, timing belt, idler pulley, timing belt tensioner recently as preventative maintenance as they where all coming up to 10 years old.

I would say all the parts look in perfect working order and could be mistaken as new but what should i do with them now?

It seems a waste to throw them away but not sure i will ever use them again except maybe the water pump and thermostat in an emergency.

I'd chuck the belt and tensioner without question, no point re-using or refitting them. The others could be kept but realistically what's the chances of needing them again?

In an emergency, you'd just leave the thermostat out rather than chance putting an old one back in which may have had a whack or something. So I'd bin that too.

I'd keep the pump as a spare, get rid of the rest.

For my last trip, I bought a pump to add to my spares kit, although maybe its because I started with a 2.4 lte then progressed on to a 3.0 Kzte, both of which have coolant concerns.
