Well I think the prep work for romania is about done.... Got the new exhaust made up, old one was ok but at motorway speeds it did get a bit like Japanese war torture! After that was made was able to "whip up" a step for that side too, not so easy making it fit round the exhaust! Also made up a new transfer box gaurd with some borrowed checker plate id got

Had Thursday and Friday off this week to get a few of them jobs done that you've been doing for the last year. Bought some stainless sheet so cut and screwed that on to the tailgate to make it more useful as a table. Also built myself a drawer! Bit of a pain in the arse I have to say but it's done. The drawer runners were 7 quid from screwfix and are plenty strong enough for camping stuff, I've managed to get 3 wolf boxes worth of stuff in to the drawer so I'm well chuffed. Oh and I also mounted an invertor (to use a makita 18v battery charger for my new cordless chainsaw!)

No pictures and hardly anything others haven't already done but installed a 100w folding solar panel. Tested it down at santa Pod this weekend and it kept the fridge running all day from 10.30 and led lights in the back at night. Fridge didn't cut out like it usually does at night so I'd say it's a success!

The mod that everyone else probably did 10 years ago but better late than never eh. Wanted a cdl button since Romania last years, the steep tight turns round clives can be a bit clutch heavy! Mine didn't have a button so got hold of one and pulled the dash apart, took me half an hour to find the plug in the dash! Pulled the plug from the transfer box and hey presto she's a good un. Why did they all just not come like this?? Oh and dave the cat showed great interest too

Not much has changed on the 80 for a while, just been using it. But a couple of years on from the rebuild all the paint on the bumpers and wheel carrier was looking terrible, I don't rate raptor paint at all, as soon as it chip's it all flakes off. So I bought the paint I've found best - por15. Gave the rear bumper and sliders a good coat! Fitted some proper plugs for the rear lights too so I don't have to cut and solder everytime. Also what do people recommend for boost controllers? Wanting to get a bit more power out of it as she's a little weighty compared to standard

Nice one cheers. What's a safe psi to run at? (only mods are exhaust and I turned the boost pin). I assume I'll have to up the fueling to suit?

I'm guessing this is for your 70 and it has a manual fuel pump ?

Our 1kz-te can only go to 12psi before electronics cut fuel so i guess you could consider that Toyota's own imposed limit .

15 psi on the ct26.
More fuel and boost transforms the 80 done correctly.

Ah not sure how i did that "not much doing with the 80" is what registered in my hibernation mindset

Increase boost and turn fuel down , the power loss will be very obvious when you run too lean on fuel , that gives you a tangible cause and effect to work with while increasing fuel in small increments , its trial and error but eventually you will turn up the fuel to find no gain so thats one notch to far .

Hoping to do it to both vehicles but trialing it on the 80 first as I use the 70 everyday for work, I don't plan on going nuts with it but just a bit more would be nice on both.

Rebuilt the steering box today after the oil was coming out as fast as it went in. The lower dust seal had fell out and after getting the shaft out you could see why. Someone had evidently twatted the box with the hammer causing the seal section to be oval. Wasn't too bad a job actually, the drop arm wasn't even terrible to remove! New seal kit installed after making the hole a bit more round again. Will get it fitted back on tomorrow or Monday and hopefully it'll hold its oil.

Alternator bearing seized up yesterday, do you think I'll get warranty? Only 27 years old with 215 thousand on it. Did manage to strip it and free it off and now it works but how long for? Shame you can't buy the bearing, spoke to a couple of local suppliers and they couldn't help. Ordered a new denso unit so hopefully it'll last as long as the original

Actually you can get the bearings but they come in a little thinner than the OEM which is no problem actually. I got some from the States some time back. There's a post on this but it's about 1000 years old.
