Hi Guys, I drove my 2001 LC with the 1HDFTE 4.2 diesel (140k miles) for about 30 miles this morning, switched her off for about 30 minutes all was fine as usual. When i re started her it was running really lumpy and rough with a tapping noise which wasn't at engine speed that would come and go.. so i popped the bonnet and it sounded like an old worn out diesel !! there seemed to be a pulsing action in the fuel one from the filter to the injector pump.. oil pressure and water temp normal with no warning lights i headed for home after about a mile i had to give her some throttle to climb a slight hill and the problem cleared and has been fine since. So a bit of a head scratcher ? Is there a solenoid in the fuel circuit that could be causing the tapping noise if it were faulty ? any ideas guys ??
