Been a while since I posted. Relocations and importing my HJ60 have got in the way of doing anything cool. Well I did get to do a little off-road action when driving my 60 over. That was a lot of fun.

The previous owner of my 83' 60 LHD replaced the front seats and did a sterling job of doing it very very badly. If you're under six foot it's a stretch to the pedals. I can just get by but my short friends struggle so this needs dealing with.

Looking for any ideas on what seats and frame solutions people have done. Anyone got anything I could consider that doesn't, ideally, need lots of welding. If it's needed though then that will happen.

Cheers
John

Hi John,

Albeit a different vehicle, I changed my seats in my 80 a long time ago. My pointer pup at the time had got bored and removed all the seat foam and spread it liberally around the rest of the car. I used the standard seat runners (jap import and manual seats) had some flat plate steel bolted across (ie. Left to right connecting the runners together) the top of them. I bought some old recaro’s and then just bolted them to the flat metal. I have full forwards and backwards movement.
I have now got another new set of seats and about to remove the entire concoction above which I’ll gladly sell on. I have a pair of recaros in much better condition as what I described above has been in the car for 17 years across Africa.
Either way, it’s a simple and secure system.

When I changed my front seats in the 60 I ordered in the seat brackets from torfab in USA that allowed them to be installed using original floor mounts. Upon these were fitted a new pair of bmw X3 seats that had all manual adjustments and cloth fabric. An excellent upgrade. Still love them 7 years later

Hi JSW
I have a pair of Mazda multi adjustable cloth seats which came out of a 60 years ago when I put some originals back in. I saved them in case I wanted some more comfortable seats in a 60 but since I'll never own one again these are surplus to requirements.
They could be of use to you, if you came up you could try before committing.

Yours for £40.00.

Meant to say, Planted are an American company and produce bolt in seat bases for nearly any seat. I have a set of those to go in which I imported direct. Turns out Demon Tweeks stock them or at least can get them so it may be worth looking them up.

Thanks everyone, I'll do some digging - some good tips there. Appreciate the comments.

Hi Andy, I think you are in York aren't you? if so that's a little far to go just for a set of seats. But thanks for the offer.
