Squeaky Steering Wheel

I was wondering if anyone has a squeaky steering wheel. Mine has a squeak as the wheel is turned. I can't see what the problem is and it's driving me crazy. On the plus side the trusty old gal sailed through her MOT.

Does the steering wheel move up down or feel loose in any way, as if theres a bearing in the shaft/column loose/worn? In other words is there any play.

No, it doesn't appear as if there is any play.

It’s just that there’s four small bearings, but not in conventional sense, that wear out.

it’s fairly easy to remove the top and bottom covers and have a butcher’s to see if you can find the squeaky noise.

I couldn't find a squeak today, I could find a leak though, as it's tipping it down.
