Yeah mine was like that, but I put a plastic bag over the top, kept it dry but I had to blow some air in now and again. ;)
 
think the bearings are dry on mine. As it's opening and closing there is a very loud and prolonged whine. It is aggravated by rain. I tried attaching the grease gun to what I thought where the two grease nipples.
The doctor says the swelling should come down in a few days and then hopefully the sight in my right eye will return.
 
I think mine is just knackered, it's quite old now and I've had it quite a while, doesn't do anything I want apart from that whining noise that they all tend to get !

Know what you mean Nick, I've been thinking of trading in for a newer model, but you get attached to them don't you. :romance-caress:
