I find the whole Trump barnstorming thing fascinating. He is everything a modern-day politician is not. Well, so far. I think he'll make a crap president and he'll be mentioned in more history books than Clinton or Cruz would have.

Shows how disillusioned the masses of the western world are at political interference with day to day living .

I always had a bad feeling about UKIP and Farage feeling they were too extreme but because of the EU poll i have come to realize i sort of absently fell fowl of the propaganda sprouted by pro union parties and i do wonder what percentage of Brits who don't normally bother to vote will for the first time in years make their mark choosing the only party who's stance on the EU is black and white with no nonsense .

Shame they don't have Trumps budget .

I think the problem is that nobody senior in the GOP thought that their membership would vote for Trump... and so didn't really have a plan to counter it, hence why we are here.

What is going to be interesting is the potential isolationist policy that he will follow - and possibly the similar shift from the UK with regards to the EU it's going to be interesting.

In contrast, the Canadians have elected a young, dynamic prime minister (Justin Trudeau) who appears to be doing well... although he is from a political dynasty, whilst I'm still trying to decide what the Aussies have ended up with (un-elected again... oh well...)

Once they get in to office they are just castrated figureheads with people behind the scenes running things as usual.

I wonder if that would be the case with him Frank? I think the arrogance would fight back.

The thing I find with Clinton and once-was Cruz is that they would agree with you, the potential voter, that the sky was in fact red - just like all politicians do. He might be different. Different good or bad - time will tell.

He has a credible approach but his promises are the same old ones...........new beginning, make America proud etc. Remember what John Lennon said "life is what happens when you are making other plans". Well the president of America is not exempt from this. He will be an amateur politician trying to play with the professionals.

I wonder if he will be humbled or if the arrogance will flair up and get all fighty.

My old work mates at our smoko political debates reckoned I stood somewhat to the right of Ghengis Khan, however as time has gone on I believe that governments must do their best for the people they serve.
In the USA the politicos just want to get on that great big gravy train and serve themselves so I find it refreshing that a bloke who has everything,is too old to lay the foundations for a dynasty and ..is actually listening to all the people.
He has given a broad outline of his aims and I wouldn't pressure him for the fine details as everyone knows that in negotiations you must have flexibility to get good results.I think that if he has the right team around him he will be a good president. He also opposes the TPP agreement and a similar agreement which Darling David and the little angel Angela are trying to put over Europe before anyone wakes up.So let's give him a chance.

I have hope for him too , he didn't accumulate that kind of wealth by being likable or stupid and now for the first time in his life he has made himself accountable .

Presidency is his swansong i reckon and he wants to be remembered as something other than the bullheaded b@*stard he is .

Though Trump is actually an admirer of Putin so it should be interesting...

Yes it was Reagan who was the commie hater.
This one hates the muslims. But he was an admirer of reagan as well, so it could become interesting indeed.

The Cold War was negotiated away with Reagan at the helm. But Putin is no Gorbachov.

Everyone one was dreading Reagan getting in. A second rate cowboy actor, or was it actor cowboy. He turned out to be generally popular.

Remember Boris Yeltzin who used to turn up at international meetings so drunk he could not get off the plane. The reception committee used to stand on the tarmac whilst the plane took off home to Russia .

The media hate Trump and for very good reason.......................

He cant be bought and controlled like most of the previous presidents and presidential candidates!

Which means hes free to say what he thinks without fear of the media/gun groups/big pharna companies etc. etc. pulling the funding from his campaign and controlling him.

So if he makes it to the White House he wont be just another puppet!

I've watched 4 different documentaries about him now and his presidential campaign and for the first time ever I'm actually interested in who will be the next president! :icon-biggrin:

Same here Ben. It's going to be an interesting time.
