Well that was quite an epic weekend considering it was just a trip to Wales but it might take a while for the full story to be told. I need to spend some time with the user manual for my camera because the auto setting is getting it wrong more often than it gets it right but here's what I have and a little bit of the story.
Gav was first on the scene Friday night and getting a bit worried he might have unwanted visitors until I turned up followed not long after by the others. It was a wet and windy night but we got a nice fire going etc. Gav was our alarm clock in the morning clonking about reminding us we were supposed to be meeting Keith at 9am so it was a dark but mostly dry start:
My experimental mod for the door flap on my new tent worked a treat:
We had a call from Keith on route who was still having exhaust problems and would meet us later. We'd only got as far as just the other side of Machynlleth when Chris noticed he was having gearbox problems and we had to pull over to have a look:
An ATF cooler pipe had split spilling most of his ATF

but the split part was cut off and new ATF that Gav fetched went in and we were on our way again:
There was even a few patches of snow
and some water:
some more water:
grrr, stupid camera, both on auto:
more water, fancy that:
Stopped for lunch and check in with Keith who was at Newtown waiting to see where to head to:
Carried on, nice day if a bit chilly:
ooh look, more water
bit of a squeeze through here for lwb trucks:
ok so far:
oops:
We met Keith in Machynlleth as we passed back through there, topped up on supplied from the co-op and then carried on:
100's leading the way
bit tippy here:
and there was some more snow
Jonnie left us after that lane and the rest of us went back round the coast road to Talybont and then into the lanes around Nant-y-moch. It was too dark for photos by this time (at least for my camera) but I much fun was had I think

We finished up at the visitors centre just west of Ponterwyd again and motored down to Strata to camp for the night where things got a bit interesting but more on that later.
After a bit of too'ing and fro'ing in the morning we carried on along Strata:
then we went up to the lane below the dam on Claerwyen and stopped to look at the overflowing dam again:
Then as we were making our way along the lane a big plane flew quite low overhead. By the time I'd stopped, got the camera sorted etc this was the best I could get:
and then it was the end of the lane and our trip:
but we seem to be missing someone ...
