    1992 HDJ81 for sale

Thanks guys. Hdj81 is a 5 seater but that's not the problem, we were pretty packed with 2 of us and all the toys so with baby stuff too it's a bit much. The real clincher was not being able to sit up in bed to feed at night. It's a shame but as Andy says, sometimes you just have to go in a...

    1992 HDJ81 for sale

Hi All, It is with a heavy heart that I must sell Bolly. She's taken us on some amazing camping trips around the south west and through France. Unfortunately the family is expanding and we need more space so it is time for a van. I know you all love pictures so here is a gallery...

Help?! 80 series - engine not switching off... randoms

Mine did something similar, wouldn't stop one day then was fine for ages. A few months later it did it again and didn't stop until the starter motor had burned out itself and the 12/24v relay.

    80 series transmission relay

Thanks guys, Sounds like Karl has both so happy days. It will be nice to have the CDL working again - it's getting embarrassing wheel spinning around the farm with all the landrovers about!

    80 series transmission relay

Happy new year all, I'm looking for a transmission relay for a 12v HDJ81 (the black box to the right of the driver's footwell that controls the CDL). Guessing this will be the same as in the HDJ80s?? Cheers, Rich

Starter motor and switchover solenoid burn out

80 is up and running again! Slightly upsetting £500 but better than the £1405 quoted by the garage thanks to Karl. Next job is to find time to check and replace the bushes in the starter motor as I didn't have time to do it before getting it fitted... I know you all like photos so here are my...

Starter motor and switchover solenoid burn out

Me too!! Karl you are a legend! I must be more active and start putting some photos up when I do work on the truck (not very exciting at the moment though - just a split charge system to a 3rd battery).

Starter motor and switchover solenoid burn out

So, a bit of a crappy morning today. I stopped to pick up some stuff from my workshop and the truck wouldn't cut out - just kept cranking over. Not too far to the garage so thought I would drive it round there. Instruments started to die on the way and then just round the corner from the...

    Rich's HDJ81

Hi All, It's been quite a while since I've been on here. I've not done as much to the 80 as I was planning due to lack of need after cancelling my overland trip when my co-driver dropped out. I am however on bed mk2 so here are a few pictures for you (I know how much you all love piccies...)...

Hawk wing awning from direct 4x4

Unfortunately I haven't used it yet - I fitted it on Sunday evening. I'm heading to Wales tomorrow for a few days camping so it will get a full try-out then. I'll report back with some pics... Rich

Hawk wing awning from direct 4x4

On mine (from tuff-trek so might be different), the bolts slide into the two tracks in the rail on the back of the awning and then fix onto the L-shaped brackets or directly onto a roof rack. They slide easily enough when putting them in one at a time but the entire awning didn't really slide...

    Big end shell replacement

Thanks joinerman, images now fixed. Frank - I'm not sure where it is leaking from yet, I need to clean it all up and see if I can work it out. Great tips for when I do! Dave - thank you, I'll give that a go before trying anything more drastic.

    Big end shell replacement

Finally got round to doing my BEB replacement this weekend with help from Rob - massive thank you again Rob. I know how much you all like photos so here goes... All worn, particularly the tops and all have a small pit but not nearly as bad as some others on here: The worst one was the top...

Hawk wing awning from direct 4x4

Just received mine from tuff-trek for rather more than that (although I do have sidewalls to go with it too :icon-biggrin: ). Still to try it out but I'm hoping to get my BEBs done this weekend so I can go camping in Wales next week to test it. It just needs to stop raining now...

Another oil thread, longer service interval on 1HD-FT

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but what did you end up doing Rob? I'm sure everyone else has a general view on oils as well... :icon-biggrin: I have a barrel of Morris Ring Free VS Plus 15W40 mineral oil which the old owner used but I'm wondering if that is ok or whether I would be better...

    roof rack & Awning

Great, thanks Steve. I think I will be putting in an order with them tonight (the ebay ones all seem to be direct 4x4 who don't look like they supply the feet whereas www.accessoires4x4.ch look like they do).

    roof rack & Awning

Hi Steve, Just wondering how you are finding your roof rack after 10months? Still loving it? Has it stood the test of time? I am wondering about buying one for the 80 from the same place. I don't really want to pay patriot/front runner prices but need something to stand up to a trip to...

    Roof Rack Build

Cheers Moggy, I'll definitely have a look into the halfords bars. Has anyone got any experience with the Direct4x4 roof racks? Cheap but does that mean they are a bit rubbish? http://www.direct4x4.co.uk/titan-universal-black-roof-rack

Should I cahnge my passwords ?

That seems to be a fairly good explanation. The really important bit is, that if you do decide to change your passwords for peace of mind, to make sure that the site you are changing your password for has already been patched. Otherwise you are potentially exposing your new password at a time...

Roofrack and Foxwing wanted for 80series

I might be looking for fairy dust here but do you ever see roof racks and foxwings second hand? I'm keen to go for quality kit but not sure I can afford brand new. Rich

    Yet another 80

What time are you seeing it? I'm still learning so can't even pretend to be an expert but I am in Bristol and have an import 80 for comparison although it is a '92 12v model so probably not a brilliant comparison. Rich

    Lincomb weekend June 7-8th

It will be great to come along and meet everyone. The 80 hasn't been off-road yet either so it will be great to get her muddy with some people around who know what they are doing (plus you lot )

    Insuring Imports

Ok, so insurance becomes a bit more of a pain when trying to insure an import. Fortunately the usuals mentioned on here were all happy to quote (although I wasn't necessarily happy with all the prices). 2gether came up trumps with a sub £400 quote including adding mods, greenlaning etc. Still...

Ok, a few pictures... And that lovely brown interior (it's really only the casing around the fridge that I don't like) Finally, my somewhat packed driveway

I believe the official colour is "beige metallic" (4k1). I actually really like it despite not caring about colour when I was looking for a cruiser. Not so sure about the brown interior though.

Been Shopping - 80 series VX limited

Hi All, I am finally an owner!! Today I purchased a 1992 jap import 80 series VX limited auto diesel. No mods and running on BFG ATs. 1 owner since import in 2004 and 106k miles. Horrible brown interior which will nicely hide the mud I get in there :-) Only one photo so far I'm afraid (I...

    Airbag warning light

Just had a chat with a dealer about a 1999 LC and he said that the horn wasn't working and his partner had tried to fix it but now the airbag warning light is on. Is this likely to be a big issue to fix? Is it something I should be worried about (indicator of something else)?
