3" stainless dump pipe, EGT probe and full stainless exhaust - 80 Series.

I can now offer for the 80 series a full 3" exhaust from the turbo back in stainless steel with all fittings supplied.

Fittings include

New turbo studs and nuts (2 sizes are supplied as Toyota have 2 size variants)
Turbo to dump pipe gasket
Down pipe to dump pipe nuts and bolts
Mikalor clamps in stainless steel
New exhaust rubbers and mounting bushes

The system compromises a bespoke dump pipe in stainless to present a 3" exit to the downpipe, this replaces the existing cast dump pipe. The new dump pipe has an EGT probe included for post turbo temperatures to connect to your own EGT gauge. It also features the mounting boss to accommodate your existing heat shield.

The system is constructed from AISI 304 descaled stainless steel, silencers are manufactured in house and use ZT1 packing material which is woven and does not fall apart or disintegrate over time.

This system is designed to use the existing OEM mounting points and associated rubbers/bushes.

Does not come below the bottom of the chassis rail so aftermarket bash plates can be fitted.

Silencers have a mini skid plate at the ends to help deflect impact from obstructions.

Mounting brackets are reinforced with a stainless bar spine.

The exhaust is a 5 piece system which makes DIY fitting much simpler.

Exhausts are guaranteed for their life from welding defects and will be repaired, the affected part does need to be brought back to the workshop for this. A fair approach will be taken, if the exhaust has taken a huge hit which has created the defect then this will be discussed on a merit basis.

Currently there is a 3 silencer version, similar to OEM, or a straight through version which does away with the middle silencer under the rear seat.

The straight through option is only slightly more noisy than OEM and shouldn't upset your neighbours if you leave the house at 3am. On long motorway journeys, there is no drone or booming to the underfloor.

I have had the jigs manufactured ready for systems to be made up and will have systems made up on an order by order basis. Typical lead time is around 2 to 3 weeks and a deposit will be required. The guy who makes these for me will fit me in around his other work hence the lead time.

Pricing is £1000.00 supplied and £75 for fitting.

I have not done any before and after dyno testing so can't claim any specifics in terms of performance improvements, however the current owner of the first system says that he can perceive an improvement in get up and go.

I am looking for donor vehicles to get jigs made for the following:-

Colorado and 100 series. Anyone who wishes to participate will get their exhaust at a good discount. This does mean being without their truck for a week or so.

We have seen the cheap stainless systems at 500 that dont even have a flexi in them.

Not quite the point Karl. For me, the exhaust is just a way to get the smoke out of the engine where I'm not breathing it as I'm driving. I simply can't afford that when some mild steel pipe cut and glued does the same job. I don't think that you can compare the OEM factory exhaust to the beautiful thing that Trevor has produced. It's stunning. But it's still out of my price bracket. Prospeed seem to be able to make a 2,25" system for around £450 which is more my budget. Doesn't stop me wanting one mate. I'd love one just to sit and look at. I need two new wings before I could even consider one. And I can't afford those!

Whilst I think these exhausts too are a piece of LC porn ( and not too badly priced considering the quality) one has to weigh up the benefits vs the price. It would be nice to think it liberated 20 bhp and decreased consumption by 3 mpg AND you were going to use the Cruiser every day and cover 10K a year in it then it would be a no brainer.
I fitted a stainless system to my first 80 series in 98, it was still good 16 years later when I sold it, Who benefited? well both of us, but only because it has lasted 21 years, which is good for an exhaust system.

It's more than a chimney it enhances driving pleasure , if its a truck for life why not have an exhaust for life , and if your going the custom route why not have it better than standard .

I had my doubts before i tried it but i needed a new exhaust so what hell , suffice to say the custom exhaust shop was my first port of call with the following 2 trucks .

Not that I have a 80 but I have just had a bespoke SS one made for my Troppy to replace he mild steel one that was on it and fell apart on Harris
It was made by Stainless Exhaust Specialist in Huthwaite somewhere in Chris's neck of the woods, it cost me £700 with a lifetime and transferable warranty he did say he priced it a little to cheap as it was an arse to make and get under the truck
So all in all I think Trevs is about the right price tbh and mines only 2.5"as a 3" won't fit though the rock sliders

You’re right @Chris, it is a beautiful piece of work... every bend, connection and bracket are beautifully executed….and the sound it makes with the pedal down would give a dead man a stiffy!

Is it cheap, no, but is it worth the time and attention to detail that went into its fabrication, in my opinion, it sure is.

Ultimately the question of value depends on what you want to get out of any purchase; why by a 10k Rolex instead of a 10-dollar Casio if all you want to do is tell the time? For me the value is knowing it was fabricated and installed by expert hands, comes with a guarantee I know will be honored and most importantly, puts a smile on my face every time I turn that key.

I shouldn't really have commented in hindsight. I'm not buying one so I should shut the **** up. I haven't said that it's not worth the price in terms of quality, set up, material etc, just that there are probably few who can afford this much on a pipe to take the exhaust away, certainly without performance figures. Personally I hope they sell like life jackets on a sinking ferry.

When the original zorst fell off my HZJ 80 in 2007 at 11 years old and with 212k km on the clock, I thought another 11 years would see the truck out, and bought a Mr T mild steel full system which cost me over £800 in 2007.

It fell off rotten after 7 years in 2014, so I had a ss system made to measure for about £900 and that’s been on the truck these last 5 years, with now close on 440k km on the clock.

In that time I’ve had one mounting shake loose, but no other bother whatsoever. It will outlast the truck I recon, and I don’t think I’ll ever regret having it made.

I take Chris’ point, but he’s got a workshop fit for an offroad race team and the skills to fab up anything he wants or needs, so I see no harm in his comment about the price being beyond what he’d be prepared to pay.

It’s not a cheap solution, but for anyone like me who has a garden shed with little more than a lawnmower and wheelbarrow in it, no garage, and too bone idle to get on my back and get a face full of rust, £1,200 odd is a bargain for a fit and forget system on a truck that will likely outlive many of us.

Trevor’s produced a thing of beauty there, and should be proud of himself. Can’t imagine he makes much profit on that lot TBH, but whatever, he’s competing with bespoke manufacturers and IMO the price is just about right.

Is there an option of deleting the rear box ?
On the video from Rosy it seems to drop down too low .
I think I would prefer a single box tucked up in the middle of the vehicle.
It is as all have commented a work of art ......reminds me of the hand built expansions on my RDs and RG's

@ Grimbo, Rosys' truck presented a small challenge insofar as the ARB rear bumper was built for a standard diameter exhaust to pass through it at the correct height. So we discussed some alternatives and Rosy plumbed for the configuration you see.

A standard bumper doesn't give this issue and possibly other aftermarket bumpers may need a fettle or maybe not.

But in answer to your question, yes I can do a configuration that suits you.
