A Christmas rear bumper

What way are you thinking of going Rosy?

A friend of mine made his own after laser scanning the back of his truck and then CADing the whole whole design up for laser cutting. Came out pretty well I think.

I did have an idea to get a copy of the cad files so that I can get this cut to size and then find a decent / reasonable welder to finish it for me. My only concern is that I think to find someone else to do the welding it will complete blow my budget.

Nice job that. With the pieces cut, getting a good fabricator to weld it up will cost but shouldn’t be prohibitive. Whatever happens it won’t be cheap but if you get what you really want, it’s worth every penny.

thats a very good question @grantw, I didn't think I'd be spoilt for choice but thanks to some great responses from the forum I clearly am!

Top of the list so far are the fabryka 4x4 and the powerful 4x4. Im going to try and get in touch with the folks over at opony and see of they'd be able to tweak their already great design to incorporate some of the options i'd like (integrated ladder, drop down table, lights etc)

@dyladams thats a pretty epic home build, @karl webster something you might be interested in looking at?

id defo be interested in this Rosy if hes happy for me to have the cad drwings??

I'm in the market for a front and rear (twin tyre) bumpers and I think the specialist stuff is the most tempting for me. What is leading you to the fabryka stuff?

There are lots of nice set ups in the US. (have a look around iH8mud.com) Shipping can be done reasonably, Dakar operate a consolidated service out of Florida to Kent (yes the same Dakar as the RR builds), quoted me very good price for mine but ended up DHL for about £150 if I recall right.

Whoops - missed how the thread started with wink.

I've been in communication with them and they now have a pro welder but haven't updated their site pictures yet ... so i've placed an order after a long chat with a friend who has seen them in action. He is impressed with one hand operation and the smoothness of it - especially after having the accessoires4x4.ch main pin move (base bending) when he was on a trip through Africa.

Might just be me but their pins don't look very big Grant.

I wonder if you would be kind enough to post up a pic of the Fabryka front bumper from the view shown in the pic below . I'm considering contacting them to see if they might be interested in making a significantly altered version of this bumper for me . A picture is worth a thousand words but i'm no computer graphic designer nor artist so for me to slap a piece of paper on the screen and trace it with a pencil is the only way forward .

I’ll be collecting it in person at the end of March/early April ... if that isn’t too far away.

4 weeks lead time to order when I asked last week.

@Shayne
here you go, it's the only good quality one I could find taken from the front.
If I were to get another one, or modify this one, I would cut some material of the bottom of the wings to get a more slim look and loose some weight as it is a heavy sucker.

Thanks nielsc thats great , i think mine , if they will make it will be heaver still as i have to compensate for a body lift , i do intend to ask if the number plate can go low with the winch hawse/fairlead above . Because you can see the bumper does it sound feasible ?
