Another land cruiser to my collection.

Ok, in a few days I should be welding on some new rear arches, does anyone know the colour code for this amazing red? its going to look pretty naff for now unless I two tone the whole thing. Why does red even exist on cars. Such a shite colour.

Is the colour code not on the chassis plate, or a plate attached to the bulkhead?

Ural and sidecar? My mate had a Ural Dnieper, looked like a WW2 German army BMW which I suppose is what they copied, huge beast, he had extensions on the exhausts which came up at almost 90deg so he could use it for fording and also keep his hands warm.

He wanted a sidecar just to put a machine gun on (not a real one).

Glad to hear the engine is running, let us know how that head works as its good to know of a reliable supplier. My mates Paj runs really well since swapping his and that was a year ago - he's a shepherd so his truck is used properly, carrying feed, sheep, tools, following stars etc.

Cheers

Pete

I love my Sharan, I got 43mpg on the way down and 35mpg with that lump on the back.

Pulled its way through all this, as of yet I have not got stuck with it. Pretty impressed with the 4motion system.

The plan is to pull off the parts I need to get the red one back on the road, I will use some of the arch's and the inner wings, fuel filler and other cosmetic bits.

After that I will sell the gearbox and whats left of the engine, then weigh in the rest.

Now to try and get it off the trailer.

So let me get this right...

1. Ben has the roof.
2. Spackrackman has the wheel arches & 'other bits'.
3. Next, if what's left goes to another member before being weighed in then this would be serious recycling - currently 2 from 1 & could be 3!

Don't tell me Landcruisers aren't 'green' :icon-smile:

Great work Johnie!

I want the engine sump, possibly brakes, door cards and radiator cowl if you got it, please mate.

Got that wing mirror here for you. :icon-wink:

what condition is the gearbox and transfer box in? as i may be interested cheers

As far as I was led to believe its fine and I think its only done 60,000 miles. Someone correct me if I am wrong. I am also coming to north london a couple of times later this week.

It had done about 72,000 and the gearbox and transfer box is spot on.

Ok, after fitting the new head I foolishly poked around with a poking stick and found that it was very rusty, now that we have snow I am stepping up doing something about it.

Started cutting out the crap

Unfortunately the donar vehicle had been driven hard so the panels are in pretty rough state but with no rust. I am going to try and hammer out some of the worse dents and then weld it in and start on the other side.

Any one got tips on removing the big dent out of the rear of the arch do tell. Would heat help?

Long time without an update, how the work on this one is going?
