Hello, so yesterday I picked up a red Colorado GS.

I've always been a bit of landrover guy before but now I've driven this god knows why I didn't see the light sooner!

I was originally looking at getting a 70 series hadn't even considered that 90 might fall into the top half of my price range until this one popped up.

So I show my mate and 2 days later we're heading up to Bolton, a 6 hour round trip with dubious thoughts thinking it might be a wasted trip after our previous trip to Bradford to see a 70.

After climbing under and around the truck I was pretty happy and my mate gave me thumbs up, him knowing more than me about these trucks.

I'd put some photos here but I'm having a bit of trouble as I haven't made 15 posts so you'll have to take a peek at the attachments.

If you have taken a look at the photos you might notice a familiar truck.

Yep the mate that was helping me was Trevor of this very domain.

If it wasn't for Trevor I don't think I'd have even looked at landcruisers.

Oh and while I'm here I'm undecided on a name for the truck, Red Baron or Postman Splat?

Cheers for looking guys.

Ed

Congrats i've had my swb 90 maybe 6 months now and i still revert to being a kid with a new toy every time i get in it !

Hi there and welcome to the club :icon-biggrin: There's so many more shorties about now than when I was looking 3 years back! I spent six months tracking down Fiery and there really wasn't any choice when she popped up unless I wanted to go to Ireland for one! I still have them on my favourite searches list, so when they pop up now I have a look. If for no other reason, but to keep on top of prices a little. Just out of interest I paid £3250.00 for Fiery when I bought her nearly three years back and so looking at what your one was up for they seem to be holding their value pretty well :icon-biggrin:

I still have the link to the eBay advert for your one saved http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281107746766?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#

It's of interest to me at the moment as I currently have Fiery's O/S rear quarter panel moulding off for repair due to a small incident at the last Lincomb and I was wondering what she'd of looked like without the body mouldings.

i'll post up some photos when I've down loaded them.

Yep that's the one, I didn't pay that though ;)

I'd heard about Fiery being the only red one on the forum by I guess we're in a club of two now.

Really interested in the winch tray you've put together, looks a very tidy job.

Steven i've seen one without the plastics and it looks awful , too skinny and too tall . I have wondered myself though about taking the arches off , filling them with expanding foam and glueing them back on . Trouble is they would then be so strong a wack on the arch would likely result in a dent in the steel body so perhaps not such a good idea .

"Oh and while I'm here I'm undecided on a name for the truck, Red Baron or Postman Splat?"

Hmmm, looking at the reg plate, how about Chewy as in 'Chewing the cud'?

Actually, just ignore Shayne's comment about the plastics...
:icon-biggrin: Why would anyone want to hide such a good-looking svelte piece of Mr T's steel under big bits of plastic? I recon your 90 looks just as good as his - in a different way! You could always go with monster-wide aftermarket arches & make it obvious that it's modified - if that floats your boat...

That's an excellent name, I noticed the CUD in the reg but couldn't think then of anything to connect. It's got to be Chewy.

Ooo good idea, that does sound a good name.

Chewy it is!

As for the arches I like it how it is now, a little bit of tyre poke really sets it off I think.

Might end up putting some arches on if I go for a wider offset wheel but for the moment it's staying as is, first mods are likely to be a snorkel, suspension lift, winch and a slightly fruity exhaust.

Really happy with it, just a shame I won't get a chance to fiddle with it until Monday at the earliest now.

Welcome to the club Ed.

You've hit the nail on the head there Chris  Not just a lack of rust, but no rust at all and it was the same under the front nearside one when I tore that one off  Not bad for a 16 year old UK vehicle with 170,000 miles me thinks :icon-biggrin:

Here's 1nkling's truck, there's now three Red shorties in the club :icon-biggrin:
