You may have seen a previous post by me written as I try to get to the bottom of a chattery noise on my 04 LC 120. The noise is fairly prominent when the engine is cold and chatters away like a badly adjusted tappet but as soon as the engine comes up to temperature it is like somebody throws a switch and the noise is reduced dramatically.
I have tried the usual things new injectors ( which made no difference), fuel vaccum switches, better oil none of which have made much impression on the noise. However I recently stripped down the EGR valve, cleaned it out and refitted it. This has made a big difference and the noise has actually reduced noticeably, but not gone completely which is ultimately what I want.
It does seem that I may be on the right track so I am wondering if there is anything thing else related tothe EGR thst might be worth a look/ There might also be a clue with in how the noise reduces as soon as the engine comes up to temperature?
Any suggestions or guidance will be gratefully received, thanks
