Its been another awesome weekend!

Yesterday I went dirt bike riding with my mate Dean. :icon-twisted:

IMG_3568_zps5ls2thmq.jpg

This time he brought along a YZ250 that he bought cheap and is selling on for a profit.

IMG_3569_zps2olj786q.jpg

We had a great morning!

IMG_3573_zpsbj1a7zvx.jpg

IMG_3577_zpsi4qpbngo.jpg

I bought some parts for my RJ build from a guy on the Bundera Australia page on Facebook last week and he told me he was going to a 4x4 swap meet today to try and sell the rest of the parts he had.

IMG_3556_zpsze16wwnh.jpg

So I decided I would do the same with all the spares that came with my RJ70 that I dont need. :icon-biggrin:

Dug a load of parts out yesterday.

IMG_3585_zps2kkdt8aa.jpg

Got it all loaded on the trailer.

IMG_3586_zpswelh7iis.jpg

IMG_3587_zps93noqgjl.jpg

A very early start this morning for the 1.5 hour drive up to the Sunshine Coast and we were soon setup. :sleeping-sleep:

IMG_3588_zpsqfgs7sbx.jpg

IMG_3590_zpsjdtf7bqv.jpg

I had a look around before all the punters arrived, so I got first dibs on all the good stuff! :shifty:

There was a guy selling Australian made, screen printed, rusted, distressed, metal signs with a great patina! :text-bravo:

I fell in love with the only 2 4x4/LandCruiser ones he had, so snapped them up!

IMG_3592_zpsl1qdomjm.jpg

They are in the lounge for now, but eventually when I build my dream workshop with a man cave on a mezzanine above, they will look awesome on the wall up there! :auto-dirtbike:

IMG_3598_zpsy5agwinw.jpg

I also picked up 3 books for $5!

IMG_3596_zpsll8rnjx2.jpg

It wasnt a great day on the sales front for any one I spoke to!

Sadly it wasnt well advertised and the signage on the surrounding roads was terrible, so it wasnt as busy as it could have been.

But I sold 2 items and that covered the entry cost and fuel getting there, so I broke even! :shifty:

Then when it was time to pack up, my mate who I met when I bought some parts off him, gave me a load of parts he didnt want to take home with him. :icon-biggrin:

Top man!

IMG_3593_zpspm7e2n3p.jpg

IMG_3594_zpssdl0woeo.jpg

I'm going to lower my prices and try and sell off the rest of the spare parts I've got as I really dont want to move house with them next year. :icon-smile:

I have got a complete RJ/LJ70 front end so if they dont sell I might turn them into a BBQ or desk or something.

Last weekend we had a trip back to Melbourne as I had a party to go to.

My first trip back since we left a year ago.

We hired a better car this time, a Holden SV6 BLack Edition that went like shit! :icon-twisted:

IMG_3638_zpsqpf6s77a.jpg

Stayed at my old bosses farm on the Friday night and I couldnt wait to see how he had finished the tree house! :icon-cool:

I helped him do some work on the farm on the Saturday morning. We had to repair an underground pipe that was leaking.

IMG_3692_zpstwux26r8.jpg

And helped him put a load of hey away.

IMG_3700_zpsvttmnhkq.jpg

I got to drive his new gator.

IMG_3693_zpsqlbryzgq.jpg

IMG_3694_zpsckevv5se.jpg

They had just come back from filming a trip for 4WD TVs o the 80 was pretty dusty still.

IMG_3695_zpsdbd2inm1.jpg

This trip is still going ahead, hopefully next year.

IMG_3696_zpskg79g0go.jpg

We returned to Melbourne and I had a quick look round Piranha HQ.

Love his new 200 series they have bought to save putting so many k's on the 80. it will also be a lot more comfortable than the 80, particularly when driving thousands of k's on big trips. :icon-cool:

The trailer I modified for carrying the electric car has now been finished and painted in John Deer colours.

IMG_3707_zpsub47riiz.jpg

Then Saturday evening it was time for my mate Brian's Great Gatsby themed 70th Birthday party. :icon-biggrin:

IMG_3708_zpsq5cjdt2y.jpg

IMG_3709_zps518f9zcc.jpg

It was a great weekend but next time we must go for longer!

Brill Ben,

See you still live a boring life with nothing going on at all

Dunno how you keep up mate!

Your sales technique appears to be similar to mine. At car boot sales in the U.K., I'd often come home with more than I'd left with

Tree house still looking good, has he used it much?

That tree house has turned out amazing!!
Shame when car boots and the like are poorly advertised.

Thanks guys.

Hes used a bit Clive but he hasnt slept in it yet. He said he went up there in 100kmh winds ands it didnt move at all and was nice and solid! :icon-biggrin:

Ben,glad to see you haven't lost your enterprise, marriage slows some blokes down.
I reckon Bec is a good one.Cheers pat

Hey Ben,
I know that you want a ute tub for a Land Cruiser - it looks like one from a Dyna truck is the same (which is something I've always wondered) going by a local advert on Farcebook... This one is on a double cab Dyna:

"$450, Surface rust, otherwise fairly good condition"

Thanks Ed, thats very interesting.

Not looking at the moment, but I will certainly remember that when I am.

Not much has been happening here lately, work is still a bit boring, but great money. We've still been taking Lexi to the beach every weekend and I've been busy working on my RJ70 project. :icon-biggrin:

But a week or 2 ago I finally built us a bed! Whats that saying "If a man says he will do something, theres no point reminding him every 6 months"

We upgraded to a king mattress over a year a go and had been sleeping on it just on the floor and I had been promising her ever sine that I would build us a bed. :shifty:

Bought some timber.

IMG_3792_zpssyeoymk3.jpg

Moved RJ out and we got to work.

IMG_3793_zps7osezyug.jpg

Bec was chief sander.

IMG_3795_zps12hridpv.jpg

IMG_3810_zpsjdbziivc.jpg

IMG_3813_zpshnfflwjy.jpg

Its not completely finished, I still need to oil and wax the timber, but the Mrs is happy so I can go back to playing with LandCruisers in the garage! :icon-cool:

I've got 9 days off over Christmas and I'm hoping to spend 1 or 2 of those working on LJ. :icon-biggrin:

"The Mrs is happy", God Ben your only married a couple of weeks and your already talking like your 10 years in the saddle lol

Long time, no update!

Christmas was excellent! :text-merryxmas:

IMG_3994_zpsiku2ufkn.jpg

I cooked my yearly roast dinner and managed to stick to my schedule! :icon-cool:

IMG_3995_zps3buisndk.jpg

Pigs in blankets!

IMG_3996_zpsxmlx2ldl.jpg

4 different meats!

IMG_4001_zpsoaw8i4sp.jpg

It was sensational!

IMG_4003_zpswtbahart.jpg

IMG_4004_zpsmwizuccf.jpg

Lexi got into the Christmas spirit!

IMG_4006_zpsn9ch3o0e.jpg

But the big meal was too much for her and she was soon fast asleep next to me on the couch! :sleeping-sleep:

IMG_4016_zpstrpdi2bm.jpg

IMG_4017_zpshmuolo1t.jpg

Nipped to the shops on Boxing day to grab some things in the sales and disaster struck! :shifty:

Hit a spoon drain leading into a car park a little too fast and the spoon drain was ridiculously oversize but looked deceptively normal.

30 seconds later the oil light was on and there was a 300 meter trail of oil down the car park.

IMG_4043_zpsxj4avcvn.jpg

IMG_4038_zpsliftaqu1.jpg

IMG_4039_zpsyxehee2y.jpg

So for the first time in almost 4 years I had to use one of these:

IMG_4041_zpscwnkn5wt.jpg

IMG_4042_zpszouxjxof.jpg

Back home and the trusty old prayer mat was out and the car was soon up on stands.

IMG_4080_zpsx6p188eg.jpg

IMG_4081_zps1zlnaobs.jpg

IMG_4082_zpstx2dkbzt.jpg

IMG_4083_zpsrryl9rj7.jpg

Pulled it off.

IMG_4084_zpsw0fowzcw.jpg

IMG_4085_zpspza5ugcb.jpg

IMG_4086_zpsfcpjekl9.jpg

One of the local wrecker yards was open between Christmas and New Year and they pulled one off a car while I waited. :icon-cool:

thumb_IMG_4170_1024_zpsgqc3qb8n.jpg

thumb_IMG_4171_1024_zpso8i3q9mh.jpg

Bolted it on and the trusty old Astra was back on the road.

thumb_IMG_4172_1024_zpsiaxmybgy.jpg

Then it was New Year, a time to look back over the previous year and evaluate how it had gone. :icon-biggrin:

I reckon it was one of the best!

Tough work wise for the first 6 months, but little Lexi entered our lives, I got my motorbike, RJ and got married and had all my family over for the first time!

And of course we won the Brexit vote! :flags-wavegreatbri:

IMG_4307_zpssg80uhih.jpg

Bec decided she wanted to do some volunteering this year, so she got involved with a charity fostering dogs from the pound while they are found their forever home. :character-grommit:

So we saved a healthy puppy that was 12 hours away from getting the lethal injection because the pound was full.

Meet Pete.

Hes having a professional photo shoot done next week for some nicer pics for the website. Hes already been viewed over 400 times, but sadly no one has wanted him yet.

IMG_4534_zpsyn3zgtyu.jpg

In other doggy news....................

Lexi, after watching the other Lexy, has finally learnt to swim and she loves it!!! :character-ariel:

IMG_4499_zpsfznjtvac.jpg

IMG_4500_zpsqwzwjwji.jpg

I will try and get another update up soon for the little projects I've been working on in my garage. :icon-biggrin:

Awww, nice update - I couldnt foster dogs, I would end up keeping them all :) We are down to 2 now, thats enough....for time being anyway ;)

Happy New Year Ben. Hope this one is even better than last (which would be difficult I grant you).

Not sure I would have named that tasty three bird roast TURDucken but I see where they got the name.

Note to self- avoid cars with cast ally sumps. WTF! That's a written off engine in any other circumstances than slow speed with your, no doubt, lightning fast reaction to turn the engine off. Crazy to make something that vulnerable. I think if I were you with your skills I would be fabricating a simple bash plate to protect that from happening again as it's obviously a weak point.

For those that don't know what a 'Spoon drain' is, could you humour me with a photo?

Looks like Pete's got his paws well and truly under the table. I have a feeling he's going to be around for a lot longer than originally intended.

Best wishes for 2017 to you and Bec.
