Who is doing what maintenance today?

Bring it on :character-beavisbutthead:

Last thing I did was checking the RHS spindle bearing, by just pushing the shaft in through the hub by removing the C-clip first. Looked good. Just thought I had to since I had to change the left one last year. Gave it some extra grease as well.
Next, I have to get around to doing the handbrake as well. As it is now, I have to crawl under to push the bellcranks back after each use.

changed my steering rack bushes to Poly Bush today, pleasant job, well it is compared to the other job I started, the front wishbone bushes with seized toe adjusters, what a pig

J66P - did you need to pop the tierod off to do this?
got new poly bushes from roughtrax sitting in garage, but havent got round to replacing them yet..

which tie rod ??

I took the arm off completely, had to burn the bushes out they were rock solid

Basically I disconnected the lower ball joint (4 bolts), snapped the anti roll bar link sorry I mean disconnected the anti roll bar link  (welder needed  ) , drop the lower shock bolt out and the main bush bolts, biggest problem I had is the tow adjuster was seized so I had to give the bracket a little bit of a modification (welder will be needed  )

when I get round to doing the other side I will just gett he burner out to start with, will make it an hours job instead of about 8 hours

Just need Mr T to get the bleeding new adjuster in, VOR's for today and it didnt arive, hopefully be here in the morning

Oh you need to drop the steering rack back to allow the rear bolt to come out, I did the bushes on that while it was off and I had them sat in the garage

Replaced my busted rear side window and the other one (rubbers knacked), brake vacumn sender and oil pressure sender on my 70. Then went to the pub and had a few cheeky ones, it's the new swarfega, it'll all look cleaner in the morning.

Thanks to Saint Webster for my parts.

I feel your pain brother :angry-banghead:

Decided to do some easy jobs this weekend. So fitted a new clamp on the outer CV boot, replaced my LED side lights and swapped all the drop links (front links on the back and Terrano links on the front). I've had the Terrano links sat in my garage for ages but needed to make some collars for them to fit properly - one of those jobs that I've put off for ages but only took 10 minutes in the end.

Moved tow bar back a bit so now i can get spare underneath

Replaced weeping front diff drive shaft seal and bearing on drivers side. Took 4 hours. After a morning felling trees and fillling trailer with 1.5 tons logs.

Today I have been mainly changing BEB's and injectors.
Mileage 147 000, mostly done by me, 4out of 6 injectors poor so new tips fitted and set up. result, cleaner exhaust at tickover and lower revs.
BEB's, all cap shells were perfect, all rod shells slightly marked around TDC otherwise virtually unworn. I was tempted to swap shells rod to cap they were so good, however I fitted new ACL's with the resulting no change in oil pressure but an imaginary increase in smoothness.

I might keep it now!!

Spent today changing the the winch soleniod pack for an Allbright. Has not cured the problem grrr. The old soleniods were just clicking when trying to use the winch and same with the new one.

Can't afford a new winch and don't know enough to strip it down and fix it so looking locally for someone who can refurb it (hopefully).

Changed my ARB locker wiring slightly so they only engage if CDL is locked otherwise I keep forgetting to lock the CDL and just lock the axles

Spent a lazy day (well I am still on Greek time in my head and the Mythos hasn't quite worked its way out of my bloodstream yet) swapping the brake pads.

I like to do a bit of preventative maintenance now and then and whilst clearly there is loads of life left in these pads,

I thought I'd try some new ones from EBC. Very nice. Good packaging, came with shims and a coating for bedding in.

There does seem to be a lot more friction lining than the ones I took off. Do you think there is too much? Maybe I should grind a bit off using the perfectly good ones as a template. Hit a different snag on every damn caliper. Torn slid pin boot, snap ring slipped off another, tear in one of the main rubber boots; you know the sort of thing. Had spares of everything in my parts box. Thanks to a certain Mr Rubie

Don't think I'll feel much difference though. As I say I like to change things out before they become a problem

thats the joy of Insa Turbos you cant even hear metal to metal

The fronts had more on that that. Maybe as much as 1mm. I checked them a while ago and they were all fine. Had quite a few deep mud off road excursions recently and I think that they just got ground away. Plays havoc with the brakes which are by any standards one of the worst designed parts of the car IMHO.

Those green pads will clash with your red painted calipers. :auto-car: :auto-driving: :auto-layrubber:
