Who is doing what maintenance today?

Replaced the rubber hose connecting turbo to air intake pipe. Mine split a week back, quick fix with gaffer tape until new pipe arrived.

going to try to get the muddy water out of my headlights after yesterdays laneing ...

Hi Karl,

I missed the new car purchase, did wonder what you were doing.

Regards

Pete

checked brake pads
too off tempormental rear diff lock accuator, it still doesnt unlock first time, every few lock-unlocks
painted replacement one to fit
shame as the old one was brand new 2yrs ago.. and has been used every month to make sure it works

Oil change. maybe 30 minutes.

Cleaning the driveway. maybe 2 hours.

Took the rear sections of the exhaust off and re-clamped them up. Must have taken a hit to the rear tailpipe or silencer which had corkscrewed the sections out of alignment. I had a nasty rattle all the way back home from Lincomb - ended up being the pipe hitting/resting against the rear crossmember. Nothing major and 20 mins later good as new.

The Watford Tesco's jetwash was covered in red mud last night, looked suspiciously like Lincomb clay......... I suppose you cant blame people with the current hosepipe ban and all that.... :shifty:

Went and looked at my 'cruiser....it was sat on the garage ramp, waiting to have another shock absorber fitted and the wheel bearing sorted.

Today I picked up the cruiser and drove it home from the garage......MOT done and on the road....

Yes it is , Thanks Gav.
Only realised when I went to tax it on line that I have had the cruiser for a year now....
taken me that long to get the engine rebuilt..

Hi Niva,

What miles has your 80 done,

What was done for the rebuild?

Gra.

192542, Japanese import, so should that be KMs?

Previous owner had run it dry and bigend No 1 parted company with the end cap, crank came round and whacked it.. :o
1 second hand rod, crank and six pistons later. Engine rebuilt with new bearings and rings.....1 year later she's back on the road..

Been out for the first real drive, didn't realise that parking spaces were so small....

Fitted my rear work lamp ...

Bought one of these from fleabay:

24watt LED flood light

$(KGrHqN,!l0E8F6fkQqQBPMNDGDTNw~~60_12.JPG

and then some 25mm box steel from B&Q for £8.00

and a 12volt illuminated rocker switch from Maplin
N85JZ.jpg
for all of £1.79

had some wire at home.

So - soldered the wires to the switch, drilled all the relevant holes in the steel box after cutting it down to size. The hardest part was the cut-out for the switch - has anyone invented a drill bit that will drill square or rectangular holes yet? :| Some elbow grease and a file did it though ...

I've left it quite tall so I can judge how much the spare wheel gets in the way - I'll trim it off if necessary, then paint it up. But for now, it works ...

trying for fit:

I'd bought a Kaymar spacer a while back - it came with the side bracket for their extendable lamp - wasn't about to pay another £200 for that :hand:

After installing the switch - a test:

It works!!

All fitted - looks OK

and still works!!!

I'll check the throw in the semi-dark tonight and maybe drop it by an inch or two. Pretty chuffed though, for now. The switch isn't waterproof, so I've hidden it behind the spare wheel, facing in towards the door. Should be fairly OK there, for now.

Was speaking to Crispin about your light Gary, its looks the mutts. A good job well done.

And yes, someone has invented a process for drilling square holes. It was on here a while ago. Sort of epicyclic cutting motion with a miller. Vay cool. But massively expensive and not an option I shall be ticking just yet.

Nice Gary, Nice.

Chris

Looks good Gary, but aren't you going to paint the box section? :)

Nice job Doily!

How/where have you taken the power from?
