Club meets, laning and Lincomb

Just looked at the weather - could be a good night for camping on Saturday... :shhh:

Yup, that was a morning of early starts alright...

Just a quick note of thanks to Jon for starting this one up & leading us round a great route of lanes on Saturday - the group ended up being Jon, Rob, Karl, Gary & me at the start point. None of us made it to the intended finish point though...

Three of us started Sunday's mishun but only two completed that

But, its sounds like we have all made it back to safety now  Happy days

Yeah, but we'll have to rely on Jay Dubbleyuh for those. I got a couple but I can't do them tonight - I'm pooped...

Where's the feckin log??? You said you were going to bring the feckin log back...

it was to blxxdy long mate. We thought about it as we going to drive over it to snap it in half. I decided it was a bad idea as knowing my look it would have poped my tyre plus time factor as i wanted to get the 4 hour plus drive home over towin her in

Oh hello... is this a secret club or do we all get to laugh at Karl's misfortune? Sorry Karl, you could always call Steff for parts

Come on, what have you done

Chris

I am so glad you didn't try that - that would have been the final finale

OMG!!! That fall off my chair really hurt!!!

I don't know if justice can be done to it tonight Chris but here we go...

To be fair, its a tale of woe - now't serious, just mechanical failure... The extraction of veggieMUX from its point of last momentum on a rather steep gravel section of the next to last lane did involve both Lord Muxley & Jay Dubblyuh's 'Undred & a couple of big fat strops in the dying sunlight to get him up the hill from where Muxley could pull him outta the lane solo...

After an hour or so of (failed) open heart surgery, Rob dragged the dying carcass of veggieMUX up the hill past the entrance to Strata so Karl's buddy Dave would have a better idea of where to find us & where we hoped (in vain as it happened) that we might get some sort of mobile signal...

Bloomin good job Rob had that sat phone else we'd have had to drag veggieMUX around with us today as well!!!

Gary developed issues with his steering/front drive system after the second lane we did after ditching Karl & veggieMUX & headed off to Steff's in a steady & controlled manner - we understand that he made it through the jet wash in an orderly manner & is safely ensconced in his Travel Inn as we speak...

In true galant fashion, Rob, Halina/Halinka & me finished the day at the end of Happy Valley after hitting a few wicked lanes with a few butties before heading home. I don't think a single photo was taken on Sunday!!!

Karl, be kind to veggieMUX & send Stef back his fuel pump!!!

Almost sounds like a landrover outing not a Landcruiser one! It was very foggy first thing and apart from the odd puddle nothing much to point the camera at but when the fog cleared I did remember to take a few pics. Just some of the usual suspects in mid wales:

Someone forgot to turn the tap off, definately enough water in this one

Right cris and anyone else who wants the story, As gav had said veggiemux as he has been named was going well.
He has been parked up for the last few months due to the fuel pump giving up. Since the engine rebuild he had done 10,000 trouble free miles on the veggie after 1000 miles running the engine in on diesel. On day he packed up so i parked him up and said he wasnt going back on the road untill i had a recon pump done ready to go on him.
I had a good running truck at the time so decided to pinch the pump and get veggie mux going again.
He lasted less than 500 miles before same again.
He was then parked up again for about a month and i decided i wanted to take him to wales rarther than another truck.
I called steff up who was great and he sent me a pump that was off yet another runner that he thought had had the pump reconed not long ago.
It was fitted fri afternoon before we left on the sat morning.
Veggie mux lasted 214miles before going up a hill hand slowly lost power. We got him going again and carried on.
Few miles later going up hill the same happened agian. Gav did his best on the bad surface to get me up but no got. He was just eating those nice new tyres away. So jon comes back down with the beast and a kinetic rope. He set on and mysef(veggie mux) and lord mux went flying up the hill and full v8 power.
I tried my best to get him running again but he wouldnt have it. Nothing at all coming out of the injectors.
Rob then did the honor of pulling veggiemux up the steepest hill ever to the place we camped for the night.
I got intouch with dave as he was coming down on the sunday and asked him to bring his trailer down as mine was loaded and get tanya to drive my 100 down so when he got to us i could load veggiemux onto the trailer and take him back on the trailer.
I get a call from dave saying the wheel bearing on his truck had gone and they were on the way back home to drop it off.
I knew once they got to wales there phone signal just wouldnt work, Rob had left me with his sat phone that was my only lifeline but they had one chance to get to me as i couldnt call them and they couldnt me if they couldnt find me. The time of arrival was 2.20pm so i stood on the hill looking and waiting for them to arrive. All i kept thinking was what the hell do i do if they didnt get to me. But i saw some lights coming and it was them.
I was so so happy to see them.
Parked down the road droped the ramps and pushed veggie mux to a rolling start i built up speed towards the trailer and bang he was on. Straped up,and set off home.
All came good in the end and thanks to everyone involed in the rescue from start to finish.
Karl and dead veggie mux
