I don't think it's a foregone conclusion. It may well be that the vote is actually yes, we only see through our own lens on the subject. I know dozens of pro Europeans in my social circle and they make up the majority.
The mythical "silent majority" just doesn't exist in a lot of cases. The baby boomer generation is very vocal on most things Europe and they tend to make up the majority of voters but the fact is they don't make up the whole electorate.
Europe is a passionate topic and a great deal of younger voters just may "spoil" it for the "grey voters"

Someone set up a similar poll on FaceBook, I know that it is not necessarily indicative of the whole country, but 97% voted out. There was no option for discussion just tick in or out.

I just asked the mrs what the Romanians she works with think about Brexit and was surprised to learn they all urged her to vote out . It seems they are non to happy that Romania has joined the Union and the reasons , as best as i can gather from a secondhand convo , is something to do with medical privatization ?

It's also about the question (s) that really get asked on that vote. They are usually meant to be vague, and there will always be a few different ones, allowing for interpretation and using them for weights towards the result.

I am guessing the ballot paper isn't going to be published ahead of time?

I actually wondered earlier this evening if this dilemma was the catalyst for Merkel to invite all and sundry to her front door. In other words 'get in quick before the plan turns to poo and all the countries follow Britain and start to leave. '

Just hypothetically i am wondering how and where it will all go pearshaped if the union continues to expand . Will the eu superstate with its American cousin eventually try to force Russia into submission . That would make for a very good reason to push for nuclear disarmament now
