My Lj70 '86 from Italy

I'm Italian! (Varese)
I live in uk from one year...I don't know till when

Little update.

I've installed the new steering box and I can confirm that square head lamp one is more direct, infact my original one's need 4 round to make a complete turn, new one only 3 turn, but incredible is more easy to turn. I believe that mine one was too worn.
Only different between the two steering box is that the new one's is more longer, so original tube didn't arrive easier, but I removed one of front support and I fix it.
I haven't make any photos of this work because it was very hard remove original one that was there from 32 year's

As usually an easy trip to test it

Here I needed to re-insert one of the front spring that is not perfect in the base, after lifted for steering box change :D :D

Now I would like to test this chinese led bar...but I thinking about where to install it...sure I'll install it "removable", because in Italy is not allowed goes on the road with it...

See you soon me friend ;)

I installed mine in the same place of your picture and I'm happy with that!
You haven't annoying bright on the bonnet and the access is great.
You can probably cover it instead of remove it every time!

Thanks for the photos ;)

Cover it is a good solution but how?

Furthermore removing it, I preserve it from damage when is not in use...

My idea is to fit an alloy cover with carpet inside and retaine it with two Velcro latch.
In alternative you can make a leather cover, but it is less protective.

You need imagination but.... something like this with carpet inside

If the dimensions are suitable for you,it could be alright!
I think it's more practical than remove and install the bar every time

Hello to all!! Slowly update...no more mods...I just using it! (I have always a "big list of things to do!")

Every saturday afternoon we made some short trip, looking for some new variants, always "harder"..

But yesterday I made my fist trip with my family and my daughter :D :D (she is only 11 months old).

We programmed an easy trip (so easy that I removed extreme tyres), only 60km between two mountains, but we remain blocked in the snow for the high altitude (1500mt) , we can't believe it, because it was 2 weeks in Italy with more than 28°...

Hello...slow update...
I have not time during this period but I'm working for install VGT turbo & intercooler
I know this will not change so much the 2lt power, but I hope that turbo could start at lower RPM.

First time I bought a wrong IC (too big for 2lt)...so I have sold and buy a new one

Now I'm only waiting for new oil line for turbo return and I will have all the parts...

It was difficult for me understand all the parts I need, so I just putted this new turbo 3 times on my lj, but always come back to CT20 because I wouldn't stop it...
There was some holiday days during this time, so I have used it a lot of time...

Here to save a Panda from the mud :D

And the NEW turbo is FITTED!!

I started installing new intercooler in front of the vehicle:

And next week i've installed new turbo (2256v VGT) :D :D

WhatsApp Image 2018-06-24 at 22.38.14.jpeg

Now I'm running at 0,7 bar pressure ( wastegate is 0.9 pressure but I think that air line + intercooler make it lower)

But now I have first pressure at 1700-1800 rpm and full boost al 2000 rpm....

Now I'll test it for some trips with this configuration, than I'll try to adjust diesel and pressure to find best match

Hi my friends!
New turbo is best mod I never do to my Lj...no smoke, torque at 1800 rpm......
After I've killed all my exhaust support after a reverse gear on a hill... I decided to try new exhaust configuration:
cutted before the silencer....Car runs better at low rpm but I think that sound is too high..I'll study about it...

IMG_2643_1280x960.JPG

One friday night, I have had a trip with some friends (all patrol with bigger tyre & lift) too dark to make any photos of video but it was really funny, they are really crazy, we are staied so much in the water that I prefered change all my axles oils!! It was a really complete trip: with started with a lot of mud in a dirty road between a lot of tree, after that we goes down in a river with a lot of big rocks, there my lj with my smaller tyres had some problem...after some attempts i decided to try 2a gear reduced, rear arb locked full throttle...i made this hill with front wheels in the air (and made some Stamp on my tank repair)...one of this friend remain without fuel on this hill...best occasion to use my chinese winch (really impressed not so much fast but really strong!)
After that we followed the river (i was afraid because i don't have any snorkel!) but for exit from that there was a really high hill...someone need to use the winch to goes up, but my little lj made his job alone without winch!!
Here are ready to come back home! (here you can see led bar with cover fitted!!!)
IMG_2320_1280x960.JPG
Lj compared with a patrol!
IMG_2314_1280x960.JPG

After installation of intercooler i see that water is a little bit high...so I buyed new thermostat for 2.4D that is 82° instead of 88°...I'll test it!

Real destination was at 250km of highway...but why use the highway?

So first stop was after 2hours, 1800mt, the start of salt road (unfortunelly closed on monday :()
The weather was not the top, but my babygirl needed to have lunch

Than at the end of the week, we must to come back...why don't find a new road? So I tried to reach the salt road to come back home.

Lj full charged as well

Oil check before departure
IMG_3842_1280x960.JPG

Ok, we can start!
IMG_3843_1280x960.JPG

BUT, at only 4km from the start of salt road we found "ROAD CLOSE"!!
So the solution was come back or make more the 70km in france on a not wonderful road over 2000mt
which choose? Second one!!

It was wonderful but very "hard" for km & time for my babygirl..

It was really incredible to see how the nature change at different mt
