This is one of the two bedrooms being extended, they’re both in the same stage of progress.
The original room, but with the doorframe lifted to accommodate a slightly higher floor level to match the extension floor level... (why is it nobody builds what you ask them to build on the plans

)... and the original ceiling wood freshly varnished...
This will be the bathroom, all the water and drainage points are installed along with waterproofing, so it’s just a matter of tiling and WC, washbasin and bath furniture installation... these rooms will have shower over bathtub so they’re slightly larger than the other 4 additional rooms downstairs.
This is the “connection“ between the original house and the extension, it will have decorative wooden paneling around the inner face of the opening... similar to the doorway opening into the bathroom (seen on the left side of the pic above) .... but bigger...
This is the ceiling of the extension part of the room, prepped with batons to mount the varnished T&G ceiling boars in the photo above...
The opening couldn’t be made bigger unfortunately, the original roof line is lower than the extension ceiling, and we had to maintain the vertical structural support timbers each side of the opening.
At least the floor is all one level now with new boards throughout, so there will be no step up to trip on when going to the bathroom in the night.
Not particularly exciting stuff, but it’s amazing how much has been done just to get to this stage....
Pressing on ....
