I should add that I used the bike charger (Optimate) over a period of 12 months on a loose battery that I used to start cars/bikes/trucks.

I had a couple of packs of bits turn up today

One of them had a dual USB charger socket outlet and the other a couple of LED lamps for the map reading lights



I'm pleased with the USB thingy and I'm going to mount it on the rear of the center console for the boys to charge their iPods and DS's in





Those LED lamps that I got for the map lights are OK, but not as good as the 16 SMD LED panels that I fitted in Fiery Back to the drawing board on those ones I think. I've also ordered a couple of 2W COB LED festoons for the dome lights, but they are coming from somewhere in Asia and may never turn up who knows

You can get the LED panels with bayonet adapters, as well as the festoon adaptors - so that might be worth a try.

Good call, I had a look back in my past threads to see what I'd fitted to Fiery as I was happy with what ever it was I'd fitted in her map lights. It turned out to be two 16 SMD LED panels, so I've ordered a couple up. The new vanity mirror LED's turned up and the 2 watt interior festoons, so I fitted those. No photos yet though

I took a couple of buckets of Lincomb sand that I washed from off of Swampy down to the local dump on Sunday



I reckon I must have washed the same amount away!!! There's still at least another bucket full maybe more lurking in and on the truck. I popped a finger inside a hole in the rear cross member the other day and it's at least a 1/2" deep in sand inside!!!!

I pulled the ARB RD90 locker apart this evening to check it's operation and condition. While it was apart I gave it a proper clean out of all that Lincomb sand!!!!

I'm trying to demonstrate here how when you apply air pressure the clutch gear it moves forward enough to lock one of the side gears to the carrier thus lock the two sides of the diff together.


















I was a little concerned with the amount of play that the planetary gears had on the shafts! Luckily I have pretty much a spare front axle in bits in the shed and was able the compare the play between each and they turned out to be much the same. Looking at this OE carrier with it's open sides and only two planet gears it's easy to see how ARB can describe the RD90 locker as being 300% stronger

You just love cleaning stuff don't you. Now, I may be wrong here but aren't there usually locking tabs on the ring gear bolts? Yes, I know there is on rear diffs, but something in the back of my mind says that the front diff had them too. No? Quite possibly wrong. But you know when you get a picture stuck in your brainbox.

Anyway, all looks OK in there from here so no major damage. Just bearings and the pipe?

I too wondered about the locking tabs Chris as they are definitely shown on the relevant ToyoDiy sheet. When you look closely at the ARB carrier though the heads of the ring gear bolts a quite recessed and this would not afford the fitment of the OE locking tabs. I had to use a 110V Dewalt impact driver to remove the ring gear bolts in the end as they had been thread locked in, so maybe this is the solution to the lack of locking tabs.

factory fitment on some diffs is with tabs but as Steven said they don't fit ARB lockers and everyone thread locks them instead anyway. Seems to be a feature of the smaller diffs, so 80 and 100 rears for example don't have locking tabs even from the factory.

Sorry Stephen thought you had another issue with the air delivery system - pipes and seals stuff, no? Is that all OK then?

I was looking at the exploded diagram of the locker last night and decided that I'd missed a trick in terms of deep cleaning. So today I wired the ol' T-Max up to the Odyssey and shot a bit of air into the air hole on the locker.









And out popped this thing! The bonded seal. Its the bit that pushes the clutch gear forwards and locks the diff

I also got sight of my sliders and winch tray today following their visit to the Air-Blasters. They are now at the Galvanizes as I type. To be fair I thought they had already gone, but I was wrong



The sliders have been shortened to allow the fitment of front mud guards and have had some gussets added



I had to drill a whole load of holes in them as part of the Galv' process, else they may explode!!!



I also made this up for attaching a shackle to the tow bar when off road









It too has gone off to the Galv' tonight and then it the sliders and the winch tray are all off to be painted Satin Black

Missed a delivery today that I've been egerly awaiting for a couple of weeks now while wedged in a Finance meeting!!!



Going to have to go into UK mails depot in Ipswitch tomorrow morning to collect it straight from the school run
