'SWAMPY' MY 02 LWB 3.0 D4D GX Colorado

That's a good way of doing it Jon :icon-smile: It's certainly not what my m8 did, but he did seem surprised that it didn't work as he thought it should have :? I'll pass on your little nougat of info to him, I'm sure he'll be very interested

I picked the sliders and the recovery point up from the painters today :icon-biggrin:

IMG_7877_zpsf1e3c76c.jpg

They've now been Shortened and had gussets added, Blasted, Galvanized, T-Washed, Primed and Painted  Should be good for at least a couple of years I hope :icon-biggrin:

I decided to leave the winch tray in Galv for now :icon-smile:

Just need to find some time to start fitting all of this lot back on now :icon-smile:

Been doing some more towards getting the axle ready to take to Jon on Sunday :icon-biggrin:

This is the half shaft tube and inside, along the bottom of the tube was a congealed line of Lincomb Sand and Gear Oil along its entire length that had almost set solid!!!

It wasn't as easy as it may appear in the photo you know :eusa-naughty: Oh no :icon-exclaim: The little self seal bag that the nob came in was very fiddly to open and then I had to decide what way up the nob looked best :icon-smile: Not a five minute job I'll have you know :icon-ugeek:

I did do some real work :icon-biggrin:

I put the ARB front locker/carrier back together using the new parts that Ben sent me from Australia

IMG_7610_zps1efa5085.jpg

I replaced the PTFE bushings at either side of the carrier. If I had not had such access to spare parts I would have probably no bothered replacing these, but as the originals looked like they had been damaged by the Lincomb sand I got some replacements.

And the ring gear :shifty:

IMG_7913_zpsdee6a8ec.jpg

There you have it, one ARB RD90 7.5" Toyota IFS locker / carrier :icon-biggrin: :icon-neutral:

I didn't really re-fit the ring gear as I have no thread lock, it was just for the photos :icon-smile:

Nice photos Steve, good progress. Mind you I'm totally impressed with the sliders and how the powder coating treatment converted cardboard gussets into steel :lol::lol:

Finished cleaning up all the front axle parts ready to take to Jon tmrz :icon-smile:

Look at these score marks inside the axle housing  :wtf:

There's definitely some history with this front axle! I know pretty much what happened to it having spoken to Geordie Paul on the phone for some time about the history of the truck, but what on earth caused those score marks?! Nothing that's inside the axle now that's for sure :icon-smile:

I also fitted all the new trim clips to the flappy molding :icon-smile:

IMG_7924_zpsbd0e9e79.jpg

Does anyone know why two of the clips are yellow ones :icon-question: I've fitted a number of these clips over the years and just can't work out why two of the clips are yellow with a slightly different base, but once fitted look the same as the white ones.

IMG_7923_zpscf4970a2.jpg

Also fitted the rock sliders :icon-smile:

IMG_7943_zps2a29df66.jpg

The new headlamp washer jet :icon-smile:

IMG_7947_zps2e37a734.jpg

And boshed the Asfir bash plate flat again

Although the bumper that I'd spent a whole day trimming, re-fitting, trimming, re-fitting, trimming, re-fitting, trimming, re-fitting, trimming and re-fitting till I had the best fit and look now doesn't fit :icon-evil: I did all of the original trimming and re-fitting with only the winch tray fitted, but now the winch is fitted it needs a little more trimming  Luckily it only needs a little trimming from off of the inside of the bumper and will not effect how it looks :icon-biggrin:

That truck already looked pretty good to begin with, but you are really making it ace.

That truck already looked pretty good to begin with........
Your not wrong there, it was already a great looking truck for sure :icon-biggrin:

.....but you are really making it ace.
Thank you  I wish it was less rainy and cold and dark though as I'd like to get it cracked on a bit :icon-evil: Did manage to get some dash electrics sorted out today though, new re-routed ipad and iphone charger leads and relocated the hazard lights switch from under the CB mic :icon-smile:

I managed to finish getting that front bumper trimmed up this evening and re-fitted :icon-biggrin: Another job crossed off the list

I used the truck today to take the staging that our kids school used for their Christmas production of 'Peace Child' back to the school that we borrowed it all from. I actually used the truck to pick it all up a couple of weeks ago, but didn't take any photos that time. I almost got stuck in the farmers field with all the sheep at my kids school. They go to a little village church school on the outskirts of town next to the church overlooking fields and woodland. The best way to access the back of the school where the hall is is through the farmers field at the back. I had her in low range with the rear wheels locked and only just got away with it!!! Missing that front axle :icon-smile:

I had this turn up in the post today :icon-biggrin: It's a 2W 31mm LED festoon lamp for the center dome light :icon-smile: I ordered it four weeks ago when upgrading all of my interior lighting to LED and was the greatest output 31mm festoon I could find at the time, but it was from Hong Kong!!! I took a punt and paid my £6.99 thinking if it doesn't turn up it's not the end of the world and to be honest had forgotten about it till I opened the pack this morning :icon-biggrin: I had in the interim bought a 1W one from a UK supplier at the same time that I'd fitted.

IMG_7988_zps8b237dde.jpg

1W LED on the left and 2W LED on the right.
IMG_7989_zps0d9bfd11.jpg

1W LED with the diffuser fitted.
IMG_7990_zps26a2e0c4.jpg

1W LED without the diffuser fitted.
IMG_7991_zps90c05ba8.jpg

2W LED with the diffuser fitted.
IMG_7993_zps8a52364b.jpg

2W LED without the diffuser fitted.
IMG_7994_zpsfde798f2.jpg

Light output that the 2W LED gives.
IMG_7995_zpsce6cea3e.jpg

It's always difficult to tell from a photo how well an LED is working, but the 2W LED is a vast improvement over the 1W one and I'm very happy with the result :icon-biggrin:
