Who is doing what maintenance today?

I got this from Partsouq. Not cheap but ordered monday and delivered today. I did try ordering one from Amayama who showed stock, but they cancelled it.

If I was more patient I might have tried to find someone to rebuild the old one, but I have trust issues with other people's work :)

Thank you. I have the same issue! Partsouq it is.

What's up with the colour of your ps fluid??

The fluid was very dark red and overdue for a change. The stuff in the bottle is obviously a mix of old and new and looks like it's emulsified but it's actually heavily aerated.I removed and cleaned up the reservoir first, which meant a bit of air got into the system. After a couple of bleeding cycles It now looks normal, like clear cherryade. There were no steering problems, I just decided the fluid could do with a change.

Rear diff drained and opened and N/s rear half shaft removed and off to be resurfaced for new bearing and seal

Rear Brakes striped, new shoes to be fitted and new brake cylinder dust covers to be replaced

Front axle inspected new seals needed.. steering joints all need replacing. Brakes good

Gearbox seems fine but transfer box has an oil leak.

Radiator needs reconditioning

Rocker cover gasket needs replacing

All fluids and filters to be done

Then possibly some new suspension, any recommendations was thinking Terrain Tamer parabolic kit. Seems to be good value although by the time I get 1 in Zim it may well be a lot more than in the UK..

Chassis is solid and the body is in pretty good nick with only a little bit of rust along the N/S gutter and a couple of small holes where the mud flaps attach although it has been resprayed at some point so we'll see what's been hidden when we get the paint done..

The interior is in a horrible state but mainly complete which is good

The engine sounds good and pulls well so I'm considering adding a turbo and intercooler I have a good CT26 left over from my 100 series which now has a GTurbo, be a shame to waste it..

All in I'm very happy with my £6k purchase

Tackled a job thats been bugging me for ages. The switch lights in the AC/heater/blower control console had become very hard to see in daylight, almost impossible in bright sun light, especially the AC button light. A strip and clean of the small lenses in the buttons made no difference but I noticed some of the LED's were dimmer than others so I replaced them all with some brighter ones. Usually, LED's either work or they don't or maybe at 26yr old they were gradually degrading? Whatever, no problem seeing them now, plus they still dimm down slightly when the sidelights are switched on.

Regular oil and filter change . Added a backup camera . and a sheepskin seat cover ......

edit; I discovered the transfer case had NO oil in it ...........no leaks either ................... that might come back to haunt me .

New actuator landed today from Partsouq via Fedex. Ordered Sunday night, delivered this morning from the UAE.
How good is that! It's the first time I've used them so well impressed. No mention of any VAT or ID to pay but I budgeted for it so not bothered if a get a subsequent bill.

I've used partsouq a couple of times. Always a good service.

Got a link to the leds you used TP?

I bought them ages ago but I'm pretty sure they're these.
Green LED

As you can see in the photo of the switch PCB the LED's are mounted through the switch mechanism so the legs need to be around 30mm long.
I had a couple of bad ones in the pack so it's as well to test them before you mount them.
The old LED's were drawing <60ma @ 2.87v but the new one's were not only much brighter but draw only <15ma I guess LED tech has come a long way in 30yrs!

Old vs new.....

Rear door lock stripped and replaced, now working properly and the transfer box output shaft oil seal replaced. Monday auto electrician coming to sort out the wiring mess under the dash..

Went to get in the 80 this morning and found 2" of water in the drivers footwell after overnight rain. Turned out to be a blocked sunroof drain, not in the sill as is more likely and gets checked regularly but the actual pipe from the drain in the roof tray. The front of the tray is a bit of a shite trap and collects all sorts of detritus. We had some heavy rain at the weekend and no problem. Job of the day if you have a sunroof, CHECK THOSE DRAINS!:laughing-rolling:

Are you able to easily access where the tray joins the drain hose and clean it out?
Not being familiar with the LC sunroof, does it have a drain hose in each corner?

The tray has 4 drains, one in each corner. The front 2 drain pipes run down the screen pillar into the sills and the 2 rears exit just behind the rear wheel arches via 2 long rubber hoses. I cleared the blocked front with a piece of stiff(ish) wire, then used a small nozzle on the hosepipe to fire a jet of water down it. The pipe connections are easy enough to get to if you drop the front of the head lining.
